Greenhealth Tracker™ is the newest tool in a line of products being developed by Practice Greenhealth to help its members manage environmentally sensitive systems in their facilities. This sophisticated, yet easy to use, web-based data management tool will help you quantify and manage your organization's waste and material streams. Track your total waste stream and identify opportunities to save money and manage more efficient operations. If you're not managing your waste, you're wasting your resources. Greenhealth Tracker™, Practice Greenhealth's environmental data tracking tool helps your facility understand how hundreds of thousands of waste disposal dollars are being spent and organizes information by each type of waste. In addition, many facilities do not audit or track their waste spending and do not realize how many surcharges or hidden charges are incorporated into waste management contracts. Greenhealth Tracker a! llows you to record and analyze your custom waste data volumes and costs, and analyze opportunities to reduce both! This information will allow you to see where to prioritize goals for waste minimization and justify addressing the specific contracts that contribute to particular waste streams.

Completed in 2007, the new Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas in Austin is the only inpatient hospital to achieve LEED platinum level certification. The facility is part of a 700 acre new urbanist development on the brownfield site of a former municipal airport. The contextual low rise structure is pierced by six courtyards, each of which has a distinct landscape inspired by the native plants from the different eco-regions of the hospital's 46 county service area - thus connecting families to the familiar, while educating them about the broader region. The courtyards provide natural light - most areas are no further than 32 from an exterior wall - and also serve as the lungs of the building, providing cooler, cleaner fresh air to the many air handling units distributed throughout the building. An on-site natural gas fired energy plant that produces electricity 70% more efficiently than an ! off-site coal fired plant is a key green feature of the campus. It uses its byproduct - steam - to supply steam and chilled water to both the hospital campus as well as surrounding buildings in the neighborhood. The benefits of this strategy, combined with abundant natural light, views and access to nature and the use of environmentally friendly finishes all contribute to providing central Texas with a unique healing environment that is not only appealing to patients and families, but plays a key role in recruiting and retaining employees, critical in an industry experiencing a shortage of key staff.
